Next Generation NC Joining Systems
Exploit Piezoelectric Force Monitoring |
| |
Electromechanical
NC joining systems are taking over from the familiar hydraulic presses
and conventional joining modules. In addition to environmental, energy,
space, installation and maintenance benefits, it is primarily
manufacturing criteria that sway the system designer towards an
electromechanical system. These include flexibility, exact positioning,
extremely high repeatability and accurately defined joining forces.
Kistler's new generation of electromechanical NC joining modules
NCFH Type 2151B… offers a particularly compact, high-precision system
for a wide variety of force displacement monitored press-fitting and
joining tasks. The integration of piezoelectric force measurement allows
two types of modules (a small one for up to 10 kN and a large one for up
to 60 kN) to cover the range of forces previously requiring seven. This
very impressive interchangeability for the variety of conditions
encountered with a given machine design is made possible by the
switchable measuring range of the integral force sensor. This sector is
a good example of where the advantages of piezoelectric measurement
(generous over-load protection combined with ... |

Cognex ID Readers - the right mix for
complete part traceability |
| |
By
deploying the DataMan 7500, DataMan 100 ID Readers as well as the
In-Sight 5110 vision systems from Cognex, Borg Warner Turbo
Systems in Germany took the quality control of their turbocharger
production in a new direction. When they implemented a traceability
project with a principal objective of using Cognex ID Readers – the
DataMan 7500 and the DataMan 100 - to identify the individual code on a
component they were able to create seamless traceability through the
production process and beyond. Tracking 3.5 million products…: Some 3.5
million turbochargers a year leave the BorgWarner Turbo Systems
production plant every year. More than 2,000 staff look after products,
markets and development. In early 2006, an innovative team of
specialists first launched their data traceability project with the aim
of tracking data using core assembly coding. The core assembly is the
first production state of the turbocharger and it is to this that all
remaining components are fitted. Turbochargers are the small power
stations which have advanced the diesel engine ... |

Exhibitors and visitors very satisfied
with SENSOR+TEST 2008 |
| |
All
concerned agreed again this year: Exhibitors, visitors and AMA
representatives rate SENSOR+TEST 2008, which has just ended, a
complete success. Although the some 7,900 trade visitors over the last
three days just failed to reach the target number of visitors, the
exhibitors were mainly satisfied with the number and high quality of the
contacts made. The organizers of the parallel conferences also summed up
positively. “We have established SENSOR+TEST as an event at which
visitors can expect distinctly more than at other classic exhibitions,”
says Holger Bödeker, Director of AMA Service GmbH: “The exhibitor
forums, Action Area and this year’s new Job Tea-Time offer platforms for
lively exchange of information at all levels.” Altogether 562 exhibitors
showed their products and innovations on a display area of 20,000 m2 at
SENSOR+TEST from 6-8 May. The exhibition offered visitors the entire
spectrum of sensors and measuring and testing technology. ... |

IMI Sensors Website Offers New Look,
Increased Functionality, Added Product Search Capabilities |
| |
|
Depew, NY, USA – The IMI Sensors division of PCB Piezotronics
(PCB®) has announced recent improvements to www.imi-sensors.com, to
include a new look, as well as improvements to the site’s functionality
and product search capabilities. Design updates include the addition of
an intuitive user search tool, mirroring that of the PCB Piezotronics
corporate website, allowing for real-time searches of up-to-the-minute
specifications for all IMI Sensors industrial vibration monitoring
sensor technologies. Products are searchable by model number, product
and measurement type, and from a continuously updated database of
available sensors, signal conditioners, cables and accessories. In
addition, technical content pages have been enhanced to allow customers
to quickly download drawings, specification sheets, product manuals,
data sheets and other relevant technical information. Notes IMI Sensors
Division Manager, Eric Yax, “The overall goal of IMI Sensors is Total

PCB Piezotronics Debuts ICP® Force Sensor
Signal Conditioner for Process Monitoring, Quality Assurance & Product
Testing |
| |
Short
Duration Force Signals No Longer an Issue for PLC’s - Depew, NY, USA –
PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) has announced the debut of Model 410B01
ICP® force sensor signal conditioner, designed for monitoring forces
experienced during manufacturing, assembly, on-line processes, quality
assurance, and end-of-the-line product testing. Retrofitting older
machines for effective in-process force measurements can present many
challenges, including difficulties with proper force sensor integration
and high production cycle rates. Sometimes existing sensing systems or
PLC’s are simply unable to respond quickly enough for reliable,
repeatable performance. Model 410B01 allows older PLC systems to stay in
synch with high-speed production cycles, by actually capturing and
holding the peak force reading until a PLC is able to scan for the
value. In addition, an optically isolated relay resets the value, which
ensures high reliability force measurement ... |

OEM Manometers - Goodbye to the Manometer
Needle |
| |
KELLER
AG für Druckmesstechnik now presents its fully electronic ECO 1
manometer – an instrument that can perform all standard measuring jobs
at an exceptionally low price. As compared to its mechanical
predecessors, Keller’s digital technology offers high resolution and
excellent repeatabilty at very similar prices. The ECO 1’s dual display
updates twice every second, showing the measured value and the minimum
or maximum value attained. As a special feature, the ECO 1 has a Zero
Tare feature which allows the user to set the zero at any pressure, so
the manometer will then always show deviations from the Zero Tare value
as the actual value. The user-friendly two-key operating system provides
access to the entire range of functions: the stored MAX/MIN can be
erased and reset to zero, or the device can be switched to continuous
mode. In continuous operating mode, the battery has capacity for up to
1400 hours. The ECO 1 electronic manometer has a standard automatic ... |
