JUMO MIDAS S05 - Low cost pressure
transmitter with compact and robust construction |
| |
The
newly developed pressure transmitter MIDAS S05 from JUMO offers a
high quality at a low price. This was reached through a consequently
cost-oriented design, the use of modern production technologies and a
maximum of automation. The completely welded measurement system made of
stainless steel is suitable for almost all media and the use under the
rawest conditions. It offers optimum safety in view of a leakage of the
process agent. The used silicon sensor itself can endure extreme burdens
in the lowest measurement range of 250 mbar and can perform millions of
pressure cycles. Especially this durability while under extreme pressure
is important for applications in the area of pump control, since here
often pressure peaks and cavitation must be considered. There are many
areas of application in cooling and air conditioning facilities, in
compressors, in mechanical engineering, in the field of commercial
vehicles and in industrial pneumatics. For the connection to the process
there are a number of thread forms and sizes. ... |

ETTN-YTTN – Digital Temperature Switches
with Clamp-on Sensor |
| |
With
the digital temperature switches of the ETTN-YTTN range, Baumer’s
product segment Process Instrumentation offers robust measuring
instruments for temperature control for industrial process management.
The devices are made completely of stainless steel and are particularly
suitable for the use in severe industrial environments. A special design
with a clamp-on sensor enables easy mounting at a pipe with two standard
clips. It can measure the temperature of a process without direct
contact to the medium. Based on microprocessor technology, the
temperature switches can be programmed completely on site by using code
protected keys. They have two threshold outputs, PNP transistors or
galvanic isolation. The output signal can be analogue (4 to 20 mA) or
digital (RS485 Modbus). The devices can measure a scale from -200 up to
+400°C with an accuracy of ± 0.5°C. Errors due to thermal resistance of
the pipe or thermowell can be corrected by manually entering the process
fluid temperature into the ETTN. ... |

IMI Sensors Releases Portable 1g Handheld
Shaker for On-site Troubleshooting, Sensor Calibration & Performance
Verification |
| |
The
IMI Sensors division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) has released the
industry exclusive Model 699A02, a portable, lightweight, battery
powered industrial handheld shaker, designed to conveniently verify
accelerometer and vibration system performance, as well as confirm the
operation of interconnecting cables, switching devices and monitoring
systems. The unit operates at 159.2 Hz and delivers a controlled, 1 g
RMS or 1 g peak acceleration to test accelerometers and vibration
sensors weighing up to 250 grams. Model 699A02 is ideal for field
troubleshooting predictive maintenance and condition based monitoring
systems, and can be used to verify sensor calibration and performance
right at the machine, including permanently mounted accelerometers. ... |

To make learning easier: Air quality
signal ensures fresh air in the classroom |
| |
J.
Dittrich Elektronic GmbH & Co. KG: If pupils are conspicuously tired
during lessons, lack concentration or fidget around, it is due to stuffy
classroom air caused by poor ventilation or the lack of it. This has now
been confirmed by a study carried out at Bremen University under the
leadership of Dr. Gerhart Tiesler. The scientists measured the carbon
dioxide concentration during lessons in three different schools. Without
separate ventilation, the CO2 concentration in the classroom had a
detrimental effect on the pupils' work after just 20 minutes. As the CO2
content in the indoor air increased, the pupils became increasingly
inattentive and tired. CO2 values above the DIN 1946 guide value of
1,500 ppm resulted in slower processing of visual and audio stimuli. By
contrast, the pupils responded to additional airing with increased
attentiveness, lowered physical stress, reduced noise level and a more
intensive teacher-pupil dialogue. ... |

PerkinElmer debuts new SMD thermopiles
and plastic-packaged avalanche photodiodes at SENSOR + TEST 2008 |
| |
|
Latest Sensor Innovations Meet OEMs’ Needs for Improved Performance:
Nuremberg, Germany – May 5, 2008 - SENSOR + TEST 2008 – Booth # 7 / 265
– PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader in
optical detection technologies, digital imaging, and specialty lighting
today announced several new product families: Thermopile Sensors in SMD
housings and Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs) in plastic packaging, each
featuring improved thermal properties as well as new chip and packaging
options. PerkinElmer’s new SMD Thermopile family and lower-cost
plastic-packaged APD family will be on display at SENSOR + TEST 2008
held May 6 - 8, 2008, at the Nuremberg Convention Center, Germany.
PerkinElmer’s new SMD Thermopile family consists of two new products:
the TPS 23S Thermopile Detector (small size) and the A2TPMI 23S
Thermopile Sensor with integrated electronics. Each product line offers
full SMD process capabilities as well as excellent thermal shock
performance. Typical applications for the new SMD Thermopiles include
ear thermometers and other consumer applications such as printers and
photo-copiers. ... |

Safexpert engineering software now with
new NormManager |
| |
Leuze:
Safety officers must know about changes in the world of standards. This
is why the Safexpert Version 5.5 now includes a NormManager (standards
manager), which immediately presents changes in the Official EU Journal
(with regard, for example, to EN ISO 13849-1). Gone are the days when
users regularly received CD ROMs with updates and had to do laborious
research work. As soon as Safexpert starts, the user is asked if
NormManager should be activated to access the Internet and request
updates from the NormManager Live Server. After the prompt the user
immediately sees the topics where changes have been made. Further
information can be retrieved directly and in detail. This applies to
document status, CE symbols, international compliance, and both
predecessor and successor documents. ... |

SENSOR Innovation Award 2008 |
| |
AMA
Association for Sensor Technology awards prize for a joint development
by InfraTec GmbH, Technical University of Chemnitz, and Fraunhofer IZM-C.
For the eighth time, AMA Association for Sensor Technology will award
its annual 10,000 € SENSOR Innovation Award on occasion of its Trade
Exhibition SENSOR+TEST. The award is reserved to go not to
companies or institutes but rather to the individual developers
themselves. This year the prize went to a team of three developers from
InfraTec GmbH, the Technical University of Chemnitz, and Fraunhofer IZM
Chemnitz. Despite a slight decline in the number of application, the
quality of applications this year remained at the established
outstanding level customary for the SENSOR Innovation Award. More than
one third of all applications came from outside of Germany, confirming
the award’s good international reputation. ... |
