New Automotive Sensor Detects High
Intensity Acoustic Sound Pressure Levels of Airbag Deployment and Total
Impulse of Automotive Cabin Interior Events |
| |
The
Automotive Sensors division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) has
released new Model 106M160 high intensity ICP® acoustic microphone,
designed for measuring airbag deployment noise and total impulse of an
inflation event occurring inside of an automotive cabin. The unit offers
sensitivities of 79.8 mV/kPa (550 mV/psi); a measurement range of 189 dB
(57.2 kPa); 96 dB (1.4 Pa) resolution; and frequency response of 0.05 Hz
to 20 kHz filtered output, tailored to the human ear. It survives higher
intensity signals, up to 216 dB, that would damage most condenser
microphones beyond their 3% distortion limit. The rugged, hermetically
sealed, piezoelectric pressure microphone features also ICP® output, for
ease of use and reduced setup time. Series 106 dynamic pressure sensors
also include models which are ideal for measuring low-level and
high-intensity sound pressure levels, acoustic and ultrasonic, with
sensitivities of up to 725 mV/kPa. Sensors withstand ... |

Pressure Sensor: New Pressure Sensor for
OEM Applications |
| |
FUTEK
Advanced Sensor Technology, Inc has expanded its Pressure Sensor
product line by adding the new model: Pressure Sensor PMP410. The PMP410
Pressure Sensor (OEM) provides performance and economy for a wide range
of OEM applications as well as test and measurement. They are especially
suited to applications subject to severe mechanical shock, vibration,
and electromagnetic interference. Typical applications include
hydraulics and pneumatics, compressor controls, pump protection,
refrigeration and air conditional systems, feed back control, automation
and endurance and qualification testing. The PMP410 features an
all-welded stainless steel measuring cell for improved media
compatibility. There are no internal soft sealing materials that may
react with the media or deteriorate over time. The case is also made of
stainless steel and is available with environment protection rating up
to NEMA 4 / IP 67. Pressure ranges up to 300PSI use a piezo-resistive
measuring cell. The higher pressure ranges use thin film sensor
technology. Both are time proven highly reliable sensor technologies. ... |

Strain gages – just set up and go |
| |
The
latest improvement to HBM’s modular design of strain gages is the
inclusion of an RJ11 plug module to provide maximum flexibility because
the installation is simplified and measurements can be taken
immediately. Once the strain gage is fitted all that is needed is to
connect the RJ11 plug to the amplifier or a distributor board for
measurements to begin. HBM’s modular design comprises various strain
gages and different cable types ranging from 0.5 m to 10 m meeting
strain gage users’ requirements for ready availability and a wide range
of different SG types. HBM provides a wide range of strain gage (SG)
types for many applications in experimental stress analysis. Strain
gages with plugs are available in 4-wire configuration, which is
necessary when using the Expanded Kreuzer Circuit. ... |

JUMO Dtrans T100 - New temperature probe with two-wire transmitter for
the food and pharmaceutical industrie |
| |
To
increase its market share in the food and pharmaceutical sectors,
JUMO GmbH & Co. KG, Fulda, Germany, has developed a new RTD probe
that comes with numerous advantages for the user. The system is fully
encapsulated within the sensor housing and complies with the exacting
requirements of these sectors. The screw-in RTD, which is extremely
compact, consists of a protection tube with an integrated temperature
sensor, a process connection, and an attached housing for the
transmitter electronics. The user can choose from a large variety of
process connections, such as screw fittings, taper nipples, clamping
nipples, weld-in sockets, weld-in ball sockets, Varivent® connections or
weld-in ball sleeves. The protection tube is made from stainless steel.
And, with the machinery connector plugged on, the instrument is
protected to IP67 in accordance with EN 60 529. The integrated digital
two-wire transmitter converts the resistance value into a current
signal. The measurement range as well as further parameters ... |

New Strain and Press Force Sensors with
Integrated Electronics |
| |
Indirect
measurement of electrode clamping force on spot welding machine with
strain transmitter: The high degree of integration in modern, flexible,
quality-monitored volume production demands sensors that are versatile
and capable of communication yet robust. To meet this need Kistler
has developed a new generation of force and strain transmitters that
have an integrated, fully digital charge amplifier and output a
normalized voltage signal. The integrated charge amplifier avoids any
need for special high-insulation cables. Signal output, measurement
control, range selection serial interface and excitation voltage are all
connected by one single cable. The industrial design to IP67 and careful
fabrication of the transmitters allow use in dirty and wet environments.
All transmitter parameters ... |

Live character animation shows at GDC |
| |
|
Xsens Technologies B.V. will be at the Game Developers Conference
in San Francisco from February 20-22 presenting live character animation
shows with their successful motion capture suit Moven. At their booth,
Xsens is proud to have Benjamin Wagley, mocap expert at Gearbox
Software, LLC, to share his Moven user experience from a developer's
point of view. Gearbox, one of the world's leading independent video
game developers, was one of the first to select Moven for their motion
capture process. After launching the Moven suit at Siggraph last year,
Xsens has sold the inertial-based mocap system to several game
developers, animation studios, movement science institutes and sports
organizations. Xsens is now talking about a run on Moven! The gaming
industry was quick to realize the benefits of Moven's possibilities to
bring characters to life. Moven can be used anywhere, it allows you to
experiment easily, it plugs-in to Autodesk MotionBuilder in real-time
and actors can wear any type of clothing over the suit. ... |

JUMO Wtrans - Wireless temperature measurement for industrial
applications |
| |
The
JUMO Wtrans RF temperature probe, type T01.G1, for mobile or
stationary measurement of temperature at movable and fixed locations,
and the matching T01.EC1 multifunction receiver, were developed so that
temperature measurements can be transmitted in future without needing
any wiring – wireless. The transmitter is built into the probe handle,
and is protected by a waterproof housing. The transmission frequencies
which are used are largely insensitive to external sources of
interference, and permit transmission even in tough industrial
environments. The transmitter is designed as an insertion probe. The
probe is available with fitting lengths from 50 to 500 mm, and includes
a platinum chip resistor as the sensing element. The transmitter can
cover a temperature measurement range from -30 to +85°C. ... |
