U10M force transducer aids torque
measurement |
| |
HBM’s
U10M tensile/compressive force transducer benefits torque measurement
applications where rotating torque transducers are considered
unsuitable, such as vehicle test stands. In such applications, the
transducer supports the floating base machine through a defined lever
arm and transforms the rotating movement into a tensile/compressive
force. The U10M provides significant benefits because of its excellent
linearity and reversibility error. The symmetrical measurement body
geometry gives it low sensitivity to lateral forces. In addition, any
remaining lateral force sensitivity is eliminated through the electrical
bending moment compensation. The U10M is not easily damaged by any peak
loads that happen during testing because it has suitable overload
capacity. The robust, low-profile U10M is available for nominal (rated)
forces from 1.25kN to 500kN. One force transducer type is available
covering all the measuring ranges up to 25kN relevant to vehicle test
stands. In combination with TEDS, the Transducer Electronic Data Sheet,
and the digiCLIP amplifier, U10M makes an ideal measurement chain. ... |

New AS-i coupling module ASKM2 - Now
SOLID Safety Light Curtains can also be coupled to AS-i networks |
| |
Leuze:
Safety sensors with integrated AS-i interface are suitable for direct
M12 connection to the yellow AS-i cable. Aptly named “coupling modules”
are provided for sensors without this kind of interface – either for
contact-related switching signals or for safety semiconductor outputs.
With the new ASKM2 safe coupling module, the SOLID 2 and SOLID-4E Safety
Light Curtains can now also be easily connected to AS-i networks. The
ASKM2 converts sensor signals into data words and provides these for
forwarding via AS interface. Data and energy transferal is performed
simultaneously via the unshielded AS-i flat cable. The ASKM1 safe
coupling module, by contrast, allows electro-mechanical safety sensors,
such as emergency STOP buttons or safety switches, for example, and also
Safety Light Curtains with relay outputs, to be connected as usual to
the AS interface ... |

New HART® temperature transmitters,
T32.XS: Dual-sensor functionality and drift detection |
| |
With
the new T32.XS temperature transmitters WIKA has further enhanced
the proven concept behind the classic T32.10/T32.30 instruments. Both
the measurement and functional characteristics have been optimised. Two
independent Pt100/TC sensors can now be connected to the temperature
transmitter. The availability of the measuring point is increased
through the instrument’s automatic redundancy switching. In addition,
the T32.XS offers excellent diagnostic capabilities with its integrated
drift detection, combined with extended error signalling. Corrosion
monitoring in accordance with NAMUR NE89 is also included. Proven,
convenient functions, such as the excellent compatibility with almost
all open software and hardware tools, as well as international approvals
for applications in hazardous areas set the T32.XS apart. Another
feature that comes in handy is the compatibility of the new transmitter
with existing software modules. When customers who have been using model
T32.X0 transmitters up to now ... |

SOLID-4E Safety Light Curtain now
provided in 14 mm resolution |
| |
Leuze:
With the 14 mm resolution, users can now realize a reliable hand and
finger protection with SOLID-4E, and use all the standard advantages of
this Safety Light Curtain. Type 4 safety light curtains in accordance
with IEC/EN 61496 meet the core requirements of cost-effectiveness, high
immunity against EMC disturbances, robustness and longevity. Protected
by a torsion-ally rigid and robust profile housing and their M12
industrial standardized connection technology, the SOLID-4E light
curtains also bear up to extremely harsh industrial conditions. Two
adjustable different light beam codings prevent optical cross-talking
between neighboring devices and maintenance-free OSSD semiconductor
outputs provide trouble-free operation. In addition to the integrated
standard functions, restart interlock and relay monitoring, the
intelligent interface devices of the MSI series are also available for
flexible function extensions, such as, muting, single/double break, or
connecting safety switches. ... |

Inexpensive, Non Contact Thermometer
Sensor offers Narrow Field Of View |
| |
Ieper,
Belgium - To expand on its automotive proven family of intelligent
infrared, non contact thermometers, Melexis introduces the
MLX90614xAC with narrow Field Of View (FOV). Currently shipping versions
of the MLX90614 non contact temperature sensor have a wide Field Of View
of 90 degrees and target air conditioning and room heater applications.
The MLX90614xAC now being introduced has a Field Of View of only 35
degrees. Design engineers can now measure smaller objects or increase
the sensor-object distance with this thermometer. The 35 degree FOV was
chosen as the minimal Field Of View achievable without the use of costly
infrared optics, while still achieving the excellent accuracy
specifications of the original MLX90614. In detail: The 35 degree Field
Of View of the MLX90614xAC is obtained by adding a viewing angle
limiting metal tube to the standard TO-39 housing of the MLX90614. By
performing the calibration of the thermometer after this tube has been
attached, the accuracy of the temperature measurements can be
maintained. Luc Buydens, Marketing Manager of infrared sensor products

Bellows couplings simplifies fitting
torque flange |
| |
HBM’s
T22 torque flange is now available with an optional matching bellows
coupling removing the need for any additional adaptation. Most torque
flanges normally require expert knowledge when fitting because
transducer geometries, for example, place special demands on handling
and installation, especially when conventional designs are involved. The
robust T22 torque flange can be directly mounted to the housing because
of the installation between stator and rotor. However, both sides of the
transducer require connection elements for compensating unavoidable
assembly problems, for example, axial, radial and angular offset that
are removed by the bellows coupling. By supplying both couplings and
transducer, HBM has increased the reliability. Three types of couplings
are available in steps from 5 N•m to 1 kN•m. They can be used
horizontally, vertically or transversely, are maintenance and wear free,
and provide high torsional stiffness. The T22’s low measurement
uncertainty – 0.5 accuracy class in compliance with ... |
