Precision-Hygrometer TH309 with
USB-Interface |
| |
B+B
Thermo-Technik GmbH has a new hygrometer for the on-the spot
measurement of humidity and temperature in its program. In the
industrial field very high demands relative to accuracy, long term
stability and equipment are made on a hygrometer. All too often special,
to the application adapted measurement probes are required. The new
Hygrometer TH309 can be connected to 6 different probes according to the
requirements of the actual application. These handheld probes differ in
their measurement accuracy and field of use. It can be used for example
in the fields of climatic measurements, building equipment technologies,
process and quality controls etc… In the case of special applications
such as in the fields of compressed air/gas technology or humidity
measurement in silo works special probes are available. Continuous
measurements over long time periods can be easily carried out via the
USB interface and the B+B Thermo-View software (optional) installed on
PC or laptop. The hygrometer TH309 excels especially with its excellent
measurement accuracy of +/- 1 % in the complete measuring range 0 to 100
% RH. The measurement of absolute humidity and dew point can be very
easily carried out through a simple button click directly on the device.
Measurements of the dew point up to – 60 °C are possible with the high
precision probes. ... |

PerkinElmer's Single Photon Counting
Module (SPCM) for molecular diagnostics - Now fully RoHS compliant |
| |
|
PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader in
digital imaging, specialty lighting and optical detection technologies,
today announced that its SPCM-AQRH Single Photon Counting Module is now
fully RoHS compliant in accordance with the European Union Directive
2002/95EEC, which restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in
electrical and electronic equipment. “PerkinElmer is pleased to offer
our customers the SPCM-AQRH series of photon counting modules, designed
and built to be fully compliant with RoHS standards,” said Dr. Mario
Gauer, Product Leader, Molecular Diagnostic Sensors, PerkinElmer
Optoelectronics. “We strive to be a reliable partner by developing and
manufacturing customized and superior sensor solutions,” added Dr. Gauer.
PerkinElmer’s SPCM-AQRH series of self-contained modules detect single
photons of light over the 400 nm to 1060 nm wavelength range. The
SPCM-AQRH uses a unique silicon avalanche photodiode (APD) to achieve a
peak photon detection efficiency of more than 65% at 650 nm over an
active area of 180 µm. It has a gating function, operates with a single
5 V supply voltage, and is user-friendly. PerkinElmer’s Single Photon
Counting Module is used in sensor applications such as LIDAR, photon
correlation spectroscopy, astronomical observation, optical range
finding, adaptive optics, ultra sensitive fluorescence and particle
sizing. ... |

Valeo Driving Assistance, from
innovations to valeo added applications |
| |
|
Valeo's Driving Assistance Domain strategy focuses on the development of
systems that continuously monitor the vehicle's immediate external
surroundings and then inform the driver, and other road users, of all
potential unseen hazards. If necessary, the appropriate corrective
action is triggered. "Driving Assistance" technologies developed by
Valeo in the past years such as blind spot detection, lane departure
warning and semi-automatic parking have now become a reality on the road
and will continue in the future to be expanded on a wide range of
vehicles as the need for safety and comfort grows. Indeed latest studies
conducted among drivers in Europe, Asia and the United States clearly
show that driver expectations for future vehicles relate primarily to
safety and in particular active safety for collision avoidance. The
studies reveal that the most important purchasing criteria of consumers
is safety, quoted by 65% of respondents, ahead of reliability (52%) and
comfort (39%). Drivers wish to be fully informed about their environment
and alerted to potential hazards so as to be able to take appropriate
decisions, e.g. whether to brake, accelerate, turn, etc. In order to
proactively answer these market expectations, Valeo is focusing on
cameras, sensors and radars ... |

New torque sensor will revolutionise
machine control |
| |
Machine designers have been presented with a significant new technology
for measuring power in drive shafts and other rotating machine elements,
following the launch of the RWT310/320 series of TorqSense Rotary Torque
Sensors by developers Sensor Technology Ltd. Unlike traditional slip ring transducers, the RWT units make use of a
simple non-contact measurement technique of a radio frequency (RF)
couple for power and signal communication. This means that the units are
mechanically straightforward and as such they stand to completely
redefine the expectations of machine builders and control engineers, who
to date have had to put considerable time and expense into obtaining the
accurate torque readings essential for accurate machine control and
production monitoring. They feature integral electronics with outputs
for torque, speed, power and angle. ... |

Park4U™ , the Valeo art of parking
simplicity at the International Tokyo Motor Show |
| |
|
Park4U™, the very latest innovation available on the park assist market,
has been fitted on the Volkswagen Touran since April 2007, and is now
also fitted on the Cross Touran and the Tiguan. As well as achieving the
ongoing confidence of Volkswagen, Valeo has also announced that
its products will be fitted on five other makes of vehicle in the coming
months. Valeo's new "standard of simplicity" continues to inspire the
market. In the space of a few seconds, the vehicle can be parked without
the driver even touching the steering wheel—the perfect retort to people
who say parking has to be complicated. Drivers can now focus all their
attention on the vehicle's surroundings, which is a significant point
when you consider that for example in Germany one damage claim to car
insurers out of three comes from failed parking maneuvers. This
ultrasonic technology-based driving assistance system, a world premiere,
automatically steers the car into the parking slot in a few seconds. ... |
