Hot Runner Balancing with the Aid of Mold
Cavity Pressure: Fast, Automatic and Extremely Precise |
| |
As
the "fingerprint" of molding, cavity pressure is the critical variable
for evaluating process control and the quality of molding. The new
Kistler MultiFlow system now also uses this pressure as the most
efficient of all of the potential controlled variables for balancing hot
runner systems. Cavity pressure sensors are the only means of measuring
the injection molding process extremely accurately - from the injection
- through the compression and holding pressure - to the cooling phase.
It is precisely this accurate measurement of the entire injection and
compression phase through the actual pressure regime that is important
for balancing hot runner molds, as the filling of the mold is not
complete until after the compression phase. A snapshot, such as that
used for manual optimization, which is used to set the temperatures of
the hot runner nozzles with the aid of melt front positions during
partial filling, is not sufficient for good balancing. The Kistler
MultiFlow system offers cycle-by-cycle analysis of the injection and
compression phase of the variation in pressure in all cavities, and
automatically optimizes hot runner nozzle temperatures as a manipulated
variable with the aim of achieving identical filling of all cavities and
thus synchronization of the variation in pressures in all cavities.

Sensors take accuracy to new heights in
De Havilland pilot watches |
| |
Pilot
watches made by Swiss De Havilland use VTI Technologies' pressure
sensors for precision barometer and altimeter functions. The De
Havilland pilot watches record times of take-offs and landings, flight
duration, allowing the user to register both block to block and total
flight time. “De Havilland pilot watch models DH-01 and DH-02 have been
developed specifically for pilots by pilots”, says Jean-Daniel Carrard,
aviator and managing director of JDC Electronic SA. "De Havilland
watches feature unique innovations that enhance flight data accuracy and
usability of the watch. The DH-02 model is equipped with VTI's SCP1000
pressure sensor enabling altitude to be estimated to the accuracy of one
foot. This entirely new interface, based on a rotating bezel, allows the
user to adjust altitude and pressure (as in instrument panels) and to
set the time – one of the intelligent features seen for the first time
in the watch. Also, a completely new proprietary control system based on
the magnetic fields has been introduced to give precise control of the
functions of De Havilland watches." "We are excited to work together
with JDC Electronic SA, a well-known design partner for several of the
Swiss watch industry’s famous brands ", says Heikki Timonen, Product
Manager for VTI's SCP1000 pressure sensor. "The demands for pressure
sensors in high-end pilot watch are extremely high. Precise altitude
information, stability and robust design are the key requirements for
pressure sensor approval in this demanding application".

The HYDRA-Line - patented measurement
technology |
| |
HYDRA-Sensor
(360 ° rotatable). WIKA: The HYDRA-Line pressure measuring
instruments are specially designed for use in liquid chemicals
distribution applications. The complete product concept has been adapted
to the special requirements of the process equipment and UHP chemicals
distribution systems. The patented double diaphragm system, which can be
combined with a mechanical pressure gauge or an electronic pressure
transducer, enables a reliable separation of the pressure sensor from
the process medium. At the same time, process media diffusing through
the plastic components is discharged, thus reliably preventing measuring
results interference or sensor element damage. The use of well-proven
high-end sensors ensures excellent measuring accuracies as well as a
high long-term stability and thus guarantees the user an extremely high
reliability of the instruments. The 360° rotatable housing enables an
easy-to-read display and flexible configuration even after installation.

Sensortechnics' New OLP Liquid Level
Switches Offer Very Cost-Effective Point Level Detection |
| |
Sensortechnics'
introduces the new OLP series of miniature optical liquid level
switches. These very cost-effective point level sensors measure the
presence or absence of liquid in a wide range of OEM applications. The
optical OLP switches use solid state technology with no moving parts for
highly accurate and reliable measurements. The product range offers
basic devices with analog signals, switches with microprocessor
compatible digital outputs, or high power transistor output versions
capable of switching currents up to 500 mA. The sensors provide
excellent media compatibility with their miniature plastic polysulphone
housings. Additionally, Sensortechnics can easily modify or customize
these products to fit special customers requirements. Important features
of the new OLP series are: - Optical point liquid level detection -
Solid state technology with no moving parts - Analog, digital or
transistor outputs for up to 500 mA - Excellent media compatibility -
The new OLP point level sensors are suitable for a wide range of OEM
applications such as medical equipment, HVAC, compressors, hydraulic
reservoirs, machine tools and leak detection as well as food, beverage
and pharmaceutical processing. ... |

Liquid mass flow sensors including
OEM-applications |
| |
Precise, compact and fast; those were the objectives for the engineers
at Bronkhorst High-Tech B.V. for their new digital Mass Flow
Meters for liquids. The result is the product series LIQUI-FLOW L10/L20.
As successor to the very successful analog LIQUI-FLOW series L1/L2, the
latest instruments are available within the range of 0.1 g/h and 1 kg/h
as either a flow meter or, with optional control valve, as a compact
flow controller.
The pressure rating for the instruments is 100 bar. The stainless steel
sensor has negligible internal volume and no moving parts. As the sensor elements are not in direct
contact with the liquid, the sensor is suitable for aggressive fluids.
Calibration of the mass flowmeters / controllers can be performed for
virtually every liquid and up to 8 calibration curves can be stored
onboard the instrument itself. In addition, the digital instruments
feature fast response (< 2 seconds) and high precision (1% FS or
better). ... |
