IMI Sensors Debuts Mechanical Vibration
Switch for Machine Shutdown Protection on Cooling Towers, Fans, Pumps &
Motors |
| |
Depew,
NY, USA – The new Model 685A07 Mechanical Vibration Switch from the IMI
Sensors Division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) provides an
economical solution for continuous vibration monitoring. It comes
standard with an external pushbutton reset, and does not require power
to operate. The switch uses a spring loaded, magnetically coupled sensor
which can be externally adjusted for higher or lower sensitivity. This
technology is particularly effective on cooling towers, fans, small
motors or pumps, or any installation which requires immediate shutdown
when increased vibration levels are present. Model 685A07 is a
cost-effective approach for a first line of defense against catastrophic
machinery failure. ... |

Robust inclinometers with 360º measuring
range and CAN interface |
| |
With
the QG65, Dewit Industrial Sensors (DIS) offers a highly robust
inclinometer that will measure a full 360º rotation in relation to the
earth’s gravity without reference parts. In addition it is fitted with
one or two M12 connectors and CAN-open interface for easy installation.
The new QG65 is the latest addition to the Quadro-G inclinometer range,
that include single, dual and tripple axis inclinometers. The sensor is
suited for measurement of angular movement up to 360°; this is
especially demanded for electronic control of the arms of mobile cranes
when angular movement is greater than 180º. Robust: This inclinometer is
specified to withstand shocks > 20.000g. Additionally the
micro-electronics have been potted to IP 67 in a compact metal housing
with M12 connectors. This results in an easy loop through the CAN
interface. Specifications: The sensors are suited for 8 – 30Vdc supply
voltage and can be configured with different outputs like a 0,5 – 4,5V
or 4 – 20mA analogue signal, or a CANopen interface. ... |

IMI Sensors Receives CSA Hazardous Area
Approval for Electronic Vibration Switch |
| |
Depew,
NY, USA – The IMI Sensors Division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) has
received CSA hazardous area approval for the new Model 685B0001C14
electronic vibration switch. The certification includes Class I,
Division 1, Groups B, C & D; and Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, & G.
This approval allows for implementation of the Series 685B dual alarm
electronic vibration switch into hazardous rated environments for
reliable continuous vibration monitoring and shutdown protection. The
switch offers variable time delays, dual 10 amp form C relays, and dual
NPT openings for ease of installation. As offered on all standard
models, the switch also features a 4-20 mA output proportional to the
measurement range; as well as the raw vibration signal from the integral
accelerometer, for system diagnostics and spectrum analysis. ... |

New generation of CO2 measuring systems
determines indoor air quality (IAQ) |
| |
Since
carbon dioxide (CO2) acts as an indicator of indoor air quality (IAQ),
J. Dittrich Elektronic has developed a series of two-beam
infrared measuring systems (NDIR) for demand-controlled interior
ventilation, which detect the CO2 content of the ambient air fast,
precisely and specifically. Thanks to a patented innovation, in contrast
to conventional two-beam infrared photometers they are affordable,
light, compact, robust and long-term stable. They are easy to operate,
proven in practice and maintenance-free in normal applications.
Calibration is not usually necessary as the second infrared beam serves
as internal reference! The CO2 measuring systems are available in
various designs: The "air quality signal“ is for rooms without a
ventilation system. It is plugged into the socket outlet, and by means
of optical and acoustic signals it prompts ventilation when the air in
the room has become stale. If required, a data logger records the
measured values. The MF420-IR-LC, MF420-IR (especially robust design)
and MF420-IR-AL measuring systems output the measured value in the form
of a continuous 4-20mA signal or else via two relay contacts, and in
this way are able to control a ventilation or air conditioning system. ... |

An important company in the medical
industry places over $1 million orders for FISO pressure sensors |
| |
|
FISO Technologies, a subsidiary of Roctest Ltd (TSX: RTT) and a
leading manufacturer of high-quality fiber optic sensors was awarded,
from a long-standing medical OEM partner, orders for a total amount of
$1.2M for the delivery of fiber optic pressure transducers and signal
conditioners. These first production orders, which represent over 1000
medical systems and thousands of disposable sensors, are to be delivered
over a 9 month period with an anticipation of follow-on purchase
activities once completed in September 2007. The medical company
implemented FISO’s FOP-MIV fiber optic pressure sensor in its new
generation product used for heart disease treatments. The sensor is a
key element in the life-supporting device, which received FDA clearance.
The high-performing FOP-MIV is smaller, more reliable and accurate. It
is also easier to use and to integrate into medical devices than
conventional lumen catheter pressure sensors. The FOP-MIV has been
especially designed and tested to fulfill the highest medical
performance requirements and its optical nature makes the sensor immune
to electromagnetic field or radiofrequency interferences regularly
encountered in operating rooms or MRI devices. ... |

“WHIRLIGIG” ™ Three in One |
| |
The “WHIRLIGIG”™ three in one target / bracket / guard is available for
all industry standard cylindrical or DIN inductive sensors. The sensor
bolts to the base plate and the complete assembly couples to the
machines shaft.
The installation of speed sensors is now simple and reliable. Shaft end
float and machine vibration does not adversely affect the performance of
the sensor, as the whole assembly moves with the shaft. It makes sense
to use a “WHIRLIGIG”™ U.S. Pat # 6,109,120. - Available with 1, 2, 4, or
8 targets. - Corrosion resistant body and all stainless steel parts. -
Optional MagCon, for magnetic connection to the shaft. ATEX certified
