Larson Davis to Host Seminar Series
“Principles of Acoustic Measurements” |
| |
The Larson Davis division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) has
announced a series of one-day seminars, entitled, “Principles of
Acoustic Measurements.” The seminars, to be held June 15th in Racine,
Wisconsin; June 18th in Cincinnati, Ohio; June 20th in Irving, Texas;
and June 22nd in Houston, Texas, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm each day, will
focus on basic acoustics; acoustic measurement instrumentation; and
environmental and industrial noise monitoring. Specific topics will
include: - Basic acoustics (SPL, weighting curves, octave bands,
free/diffuse field, near/far field) - Differences between Type 1 and
Type 2 measurement systems; building acoustic measurement systems from
components; calibration standards - Overview of acoustic measurement
instrumentation (microphones, sound level meters, outdoor measurement
equipment) - Environmental noise (airport, community, traffic, and
industrial) - Industrial noise (dosimetry, plant surveys and all
applicable metrics) - The seminar is geared toward environmental noise
consultants; safety, health and environmental managers; industrial
hygienists; test engineers interested in acoustic measurement techniques
using sound level meters; noise emissions technicians and engineers;
product design engineers; and code enforcement officers and department
managers. ... |

CPC6000 Precision pressure controller –
The easy-to-use pressure calibration instrument |
| |
WIKA:
The new CPC6000 pneumatic precision pressure controller is impressive,
not only for its outstanding technical specification, but also for its
excellent price/performance ratio. Due to the modular construction of
the pneumatic precision pressure controller, it is possible to operate
the instrument with either one or two control channels. Each channel has
its own control unit with up to two reference pressure sensors, which
can be exchanged at any time, quickly and without tools. Measuring
ranges from -1 … 100 bar are possible, as well as absolute and
differential pressure, the latter using two measuring channels. Thanks
to the integrated pressure generating pump for pressure ranges <= 1 bar,
no external pressure supply is needed. The equipment is available as a
table-top instrument or as a 19“ rackmount system. ... |

New High Temperature Accelerometer for
Vibration Monitoring on Turbines, Petrochemical Pumps and Other Extreme
Environments |
| |

The new Model 600A13 High Temperature industrial grade accelerometer
from the IMI Sensors division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) outputs
a standard 100 mV/g (10.2 mV/(m/s2)) acceleration signal from its
integral charge converter, allowing it to be used with conventional ICP®
sensor signal conditioners and data collection equipment. With a
temperature rating of +900 ºF (+482 ºC) at the sensor head, Model 600A13
can be used to monitor vibration on gas turbines, engines, pulp & paper
machinery, steel mills, petrochemical pumps, or in applications where
elevated surface or ambient temperatures are a concern, thus preventing
the use of standard industrial accelerometers. Model 600A13 is an
all-hermetic system, offering a frequency range of 2 to 5k Hz, and
installed using an industry standard 2-pin MIL-type connection. It
includes a 10-foot (3-meter) integral hard line cable and differential
charge converter, and includes a fully traceable NIST-amplitude response
calibration. ... |

Electricfil sensors and actuators rev up
Diesel technology |
| |
Diesel engine is the most popular in Europe, thanks to driving pleasure
and low consumption. Electricfil sensors and actuators are key
components for the new generation diesel engine management.
Electricfil Automotive specializes in sensors and actuators for
diesel engine control systems. Their actuators optimize combustion in
direct-injection engines by accurately controlling the quantity, flow
rate and timing of the injected fuel. They also produce camshaft speed
sensors for quick engine starting and crankshaft speed sensors for very
accurate diesel injection timing. The company's non-contact position
sensors are ideal for actuator, EGR and turbocharger control and their
temperature sensors can be used to monitor air-admission, engine coolant
and cylinder head temperature. Integrated mechatronic solutions are
available to help automakers improve engine reliability and performance
while reducing costs. Electricfil's innovative sensors include full
custom ASICs for higher accuracy, diagnostic capability and EMC
performance. High-grade components and sealed packages are used to
withstand harsh diesel engine environments including temperatures up to
350°F. ... |

Cost Effective Measuring Wheel System
RoaDyn® BaseLine |
| |

The familiar RoaDyn P103/P106 torque measuring wheels from Kistler
are now available as BaseLine models. With the matching measuring chain
the system has all the quality attributes of the proven PremiumLine
models appreciated for their modularity. The RoaDyn BaseLine models
offer a cost-effective entry point into torque measuring wheel
technology in return for reduced functionality. They allow the user to
exploit all the features of piezoelectric measurement. The measuring
wheel can be switched to a partial range with a factor of 10. This
allows braking tests at the limits with very high torques and coast down
tests with extremely small residual torques to be performed with equal
ease. By contrast with the PremiumLine, these models have no additional
temperature inputs for type K thermocouples and no connections for
additional sensors on the rotating side of the slip ring. Measurements
of the angle of rotation in the BaseLine slip ring are not possible.
Kistler has ensured that the BaseLine models are compatible with the
existing PremiumLine. As a result, it will be possible to upgrade to
slip ring transmission with enhanced functionality or to wireless signal
transmission at any stage in the future. ... |

Electronic Feeler Gauge |
| |

Capacitec announces the introduction of a new contact type gap
measurement probe that acts like an electronic feeler gauge. Developed
for turbine engine manufacturers to measure blade tip clearance, this
new probe combines the advantages of precise gap measurement (<1% FS),
with a wide range (from 0.03”/0.76 mm to 0.0157”/4 mm) and ability to
measure conductive and non-conductive surfaces. It is used as a set up
tool in a wide range of Industrial, Aerospace and Automotive
applications. When used in conjunction with the battery operated GAPMAN™
it offers a highly portable and flexible gap measurement system. ... |
