LEM introduces high-performance
split-core current transformers for energy-efficiency and active power
monitoring |
| |
 |
LEM has introduced the TT series of compact split-core AC current
transformers. These new devices feature an innovative type of core
material, enabling this technology to be the first to offer high
performance coupled with an attractive price. |
|
|
The core material used in the transformers is a new type of ferrite with
improved magnetic permeability, allowing the accurate measurement of AC
signals in a extended frequency range that includes 50/60Hz. The new
transformers feature an absolute accuracy better than 1 percent at the
nominal current and even better for lower primary currents. The ferrite
material provides an excellent linearity of better than 0.1 percent even
at very low levels, and the transformers have a particularly low phase
shift between measured voltage and current of 1.5˚ ±1˚. The hard and
dense core allows very small air gaps to be achieved and is virtually
insensitive to ageing and temperature changes, in contrast to laminated
FeSi or FeNi materials. ... |

Capacitec offers breakthrough 250ºC
Gap Sensor Wands for Slot Die Coaters |
| |
 |
Capacitec
introduces two breakthrough improvements to their Slot Die Coater Gap
Sensor System used by leading global manufacturers of labels, tapes and
films. The system achieves coater gap uniformity better than 0.25
microns across the full length of the coater die. |
|
|
The new thinner non-contact sensor wands will allow coaters to access
die slots down to 100 microns at temperatures up to 250ºC . The dual
sensor wand also compensates for an off-centered wand position in the
gap. The capacitive gap measurement solution includes sensor wands,
special wand holders, and signal conditioning electronics and
software... |

Demonstrator of RGB LED Regulator |
| |
|
MAZeT GmbH, the leading system vendor for industrial electronics
presents a demonstrator & evaluation kit for testing an active RGB
Power-LED colour regulator at the “electronica 2006” trade fair in
Munich. The testing system is based on the reliable JENCOLOUR True
Colour Sensor MTCSiCS by MAZeT. This construction demonstrates an LED
regulator that produces a readjustment of the LED combination colours.
This can be carried out to a quality where no colour difference is
noticeable to the human eye. |
|
|
The function on show can be used to compensate for temperature and
ageing effects when using LEDs. Customers can evaluate their software
algorithm for regulation and control. This is very significant for
LED-based illumination systems with high colour consistency
requirements. Two RGB PowerLED modules, which are located in directly
adjoining light wells, serve as the light source. The colour ratios are
controlled via pulse width modulation. They can be set from the PC via a
serial interface. The combination colours are respectively visible on a
diffuser disc and can be directly compared (colour matched) with each
other. Both light wells are equipped with an MTCS-C2 module. Alongside
the True Colour sensor MTCSiCS, this contains the programmable signal
gain and processing as well as a USB interface. ... |

KROHNE equips the POSCO steel works in
Korea |
| |
|
The POSCO steel works in South Korea. After equipping the pilot plant
for the new POSCO steel mill with flow measuring equipment, KROHNE
has now received the follow-up order. The plant, which uses the FINEX
process, has a capacity of 1.5 million tons of steel per year and KROHNE
has supplied several hundred H250 all-metal variable area flowmeters for
the facility. POSCO also uses several hundred OPTIFLUX electro-magnetic
flowmeters, some of which are the two-wire version. |
|
|
Some of the signal converters used are IFC 300's, which offer POSCO
extensive diagnostic functions that give information about the process.
POSCO, which is among the most profitable steel producers in the world,
has developed the FINEX process as a more cost-effective and
environmentally friendly method of steel production. With this process
around 15% of costs can be saved, and the emissions of sulfur and
nitrogen compounds are significantly lower. POSCO also intends to
implement the process in China, India and Southeast Asia. ... |

NEW Humidity / Temperature Hand-Held
HUMIPORT 05 From E+E Elektronik |
| |
|
A Reliable Companion: The new HUMIPORT 05 from E+E Elektronik
provides the mobile precise measurement of relative humidity and
temperature in the ranges of 5…95% RH and -20…50°C (-4…122°F).
Furthermore dew point, absolute humidity and mixing ratio can be shown
on the very well readable display. In spite of the compact dimensions of
a mobile phone the HUMIPORT 05 offers easy handling with the proven
thumb-wheel switch. |
|
|
That makes sure that the whole operation of the hand-held can be
performed with only one hand. The measured values can be displayed as
SI- or as US-units. Moreover the HUMIPORT 05 provides helpful features
like MIN / MAX and AVG indication as well as a HOLD-function. The
possibility of a 1-point humidity and temperature calibration ensures
precise measurements in the long run. Typical applications for the
HUMIPORT 05 are for example the mobile climate monitoring of buildings,
switching cabinets, museums and storehouses. ... |

Elevator / Conveyor Belt Misalignment
System |
| |
 |
Detects dangerous misalignment of buckets and belt to prevent costly
downtime and help eliminate the risk of explosions. The AB400 Elite uses
an electronic microprocessor control unit and up to 4 magnetic alignment
sensors to monitor the alignment of the belts of 2 separate bucket
elevators / conveyors. Alternatively the 4 sensors can monitor the top
and bottom belt alignment in a single bucket elevator. |
|
|
Alignment Sensing: The two probes, which are mounted on the elevator
will generate one pulse for each metallic bucket or bolt. If the
elevator belt becomes misaligned, one of the probes will fail to detect
the buckets or bolts, and the control will then cause the alarm relay to
energize and, after a delay, the stop relay will de-energize. Two
separate alarm relays and two separate stop relays are provided. A
self-test feature allows the control unit to check itself for correct
function. An option for RS485 comms allows remote monitoring by PLC or
PC. ... |

New torque sensor will revolutionise
machine control |
| |
|
Machine designers have been presented with a significant new technology
for measuring power in drive shafts and other rotating machine elements,
following the launch of the RWT310/320 series of TorqSense Rotary Torque
Sensors by developers Sensor Technology Ltd. |
|
|
Unlike traditional slip ring transducers, the RWT units make use of a
simple non-contact measurement technique of a radio frequency (RF)
couple for power and signal communication. This means that the units are
mechanically straightforward and as such they stand to completely
redefine the expectations of machine builders and control engineers, who
to date have had to put considerable time and expense into obtaining the
accurate torque readings essential for accurate machine control and
production monitoring. They feature integral electronics with outputs
for torque, speed, power and angle. ... |
