On-Site Calibration of Presses up to 80
Meganewtons (8 000 t) |
| |
|
Large industrial presses necessitate measurement of forces in the
meganewton range. A new product line of MN press force calibration
sensors (Type 9931A...) with measuring ranges from 250 ... 2 000 t (2
500 ... 20 000 kN) has been developed to calibrate these large forces.
Several sensors can be combined to increase the maximum measuring range
for a particular application and force level. |
|
|
For example, four press force sensors, each with a range of 2 000 t, can
also be used in this way to calibrate presses with capacities in the
range of 8 000 tonnes. Several sensors can be combined to suit the
application. The greater the number used the wider the maximum measuring
range that can be covered. These sensors are supplemented with a
selection of special accessories. Like all piezoelectric force sensors
from Kistler, the new press force calibration sensors are
particularly compact for their extremely wide measuring range, which
extends from a few kilonewtons to their full scale value. Their small
size makes them relatively manageable and especially suitable for
on-site quasistatic and dynamic measurement of compression forces. The
sensors were designed for ... |

Very Small High-Precision Torque
Measuring Flange for Applications in Explosion Protected Zones ATEX II 2
G EEx ib IIC T4 |
| |
 |
Manner Sensortelemetrie developed a new high-precision torque
sensor with telemetric transmission for 'explosion protected zone'
applications. The classification for the chemical industry is ATEX II 2
G EEx ib IIC T4 and for the mining industry / drilling technology is
ATEX II 3 D IP67 T125°C. The main applications are in mixer systems for
online measuring of the viscosity and machine monitoring. |
|
|
A very small temperature drift within the temperature range of –35 to
+120°C and a very high accuracy of up to 0,1% FSO is characteristic for
the strain gage based measuring flange. The mounting dimension of a 1kNm
torque measuring flange is 45 mm. Therefore the flange can easily be
integrated into an existing system. Flanges are available from 20 Nm up
to 400 kNm. Alternate digital interfaces are available. ... |

| VTI to sell its
Automotive Sensor Module Business to Continental |
| |
VTI Technologies Oy and international automotive
supplier Continental have agreed on the sales of VTI`s current
automotive stand alone module business. The annual net sales of the
business to be transferred are 7 million euros. The agreement will come
to effect by October 31, 2006 and it is subject to acceptance by the
German Federal Cartel Office. "VTI`s focus and core business in
automotive is the design and manufacturing of acceleration and pressure
sensor elements and components. Compared to that, sensor module design
and assembly require different technical and manufacturing expertise.
Also the business model for sensor modules is different, including
direct business with the automotive OEMs with special requirements also
in logistics", states Hannu Martola, CEO, VTI Technologies Oy. VTI in
brief: VTI Technologies is a global market leader in low-g acceleration
sensors for automotive industry applications and Cardiac Rhythm
Management (CRM). Application areas for the company`s motion and
pressure sensors include the Automotive industry, Sports & Wellness,
Medical & Instruments as well as handheld Terminals. ... |

KROHNE celebrates 30 years in the UK |
| |
|
Flow and level measurement specialist KROHNE Ltd celebrated
thirty years of technical innovation and business success in the UK at a
special event held at the company’s manufacturing plant in
Wellingborough. Lady Juliet Townsend, the Lord Lieutenant of
Northamptonshire, helped to mark the occasion by switching on the
company’s latest investment – a new UKAS approved, state-of-the-art,
calibration rig. |
|
|
KROHNE Ltd has grown to become the KROHNE group’s global centre of
excellence for the development and support of Coriolis mass flowmeter
technology. The company now exports over 90 per cent of the products it
manufactures, which it services and supports world-wide. From its UK
base, the company also provides sales and technical support for the
complete range of flow, pressure, temperature and level measurement
instruments manufactured by the KROHNE group’s other divisions. KROHNE
has made a number of significant technical advances over the 30 years it
has been in the UK. Its research and development team created the
world’s first commercial single straight-tube Coriolis mass flowmeter –
a development that paved the way for the launch of the OPTIMASS range of
Coriolis Mass flowmeters. ... |

On Closer Inspection: High Resolution
SmartCrash® Barriers |
| |
|
In addition to the proven standard 125x125 mm SmartCrash elements and
responding to market interest, Kistler has developed a small
force element that offers four times the resolution. Four 62,5x62,5 mm
sub-elements are mounted on a common base plate with this design. This
arrangement matches the external dimensions of the standard elements and
simplifies installation. |
|
|
The new force element with its four 62,5x62,5 sub-links is initially
available as a single component version. Like its "big brother" the
sub-link is a Microdau® module from Kayser-Threde that conditions,
digitizes and saves the data. The modularity of the new, high resolution
SmartCrash link allows any combination with the standard links or even
bigger force plates on a SmartCrash barrier, so that the measurement
signals in the different crash test impact zones can now be represented
even more realistically in relation to their importance. ... |

MT9 upgrade action |
| |
The Inertial Measurement Unit MT9 has successfully been replaced by its
successors MTi and MTx in 2005. As a service to our customers, Xsens
now offers the possibility to trade in your MT6-A, MT6-B, MT9-A and
MT9-B units and receive a 50% discount on a new MTi or MTx if you place
your order before October 31, 2006. The advantages of the new units are:
Embedded calculation (on a low-power DSP) and direct output of 3D
orientation (attitude and heading) and calibrated inertial and magnetic
data on RS-232/422/485 (options available) - Improved housing and
connector: - The MTi is easy to align and fasten and has a tougher
connector, optimized for use in vehicles and robots - The MTx is the
smallest and lightest version, optimized for human motion measurement -
Increased pitch and roll accuracy of 0.5 degree and repeatability - A
cable with integrated RS-232 to USB converter is available that also
supplies power over USB - Advanced synchronization features (sync with
camera, GPS, etc.) 16 bit AUX analog IN pin available ... |
