FISO Technologies introduces a new
multimarket and multiapplication fiber optic signal conditioner |
| |
QUÉBEC, Québec — October 3rd, 2006 — FISO Technologies, a
subsidiary of Roctest Ltd (TSX: RTT) and a leading manufacturer of
high-quality fiber optic sensors and measurement systems for challenging
and demanding applications, introduces the FPI-HR-OEM signal
conditioner. This new multiparameter signal conditioner includes
significant technical improvements compared to the previous generation
in a smaller and easier to integrate package. Designed to measure two
parameters simultaneously (temperature, pressure, strain, displacement,
and refractive index), the FPI-HR-OEM is intended for OEM (Original
Equipment Manufacturers) applications in markets such as medical,
scientific, industrial, energy, and oil & gas. The FPI-HR-OEM fiber
optic signal conditioner is compatible with most of FISO’s fiber optic
sensors and is the fastest device available for OEM applications. ... |

WATERFLUX 2070 wins Aquatech Innovation
Award |
| |
|
Walter van der Meer, chairman of the Jury of the International Aquatech
Innovation Award, announces KROHNE Waterflux 2070 as the winner of the
prestigious prize during the opening ceremony of Aquatech Amsterdam.
General manager Joost Timmerman of KROHNE Nederland is delighted. |
|
|
The jury of the International Aquatech Innovation Award called WATERFLUX
2070 from KROHNE "a water meter that represents a revolutionary
double solution". According to the jury: WATERFLUX 2070 measures water
flow using an unencumbered electromagnetic procedure. Contrary to usual
methods, there are no obstacles to the water flow, making it possible to
measure the flow of liquids with solids in them. Furthermore, the method
works even if flow direction is reverted ... |

Digital Pressure Sensors Offer Precision
Pressure Measurement from ±10 mbar to 5 bar |
| |
|
Sensortechnics presents its digital CSDX series for
cost-effective absolute, gage and differential pressure measurement from
±10 mbar to 5 bar. These sensors use the latest ASIC technologies to
generate a calibrated and temperature compensated digital output signal
with 12-bit resolution. They can be directly connected to a
microcontroller via a I2C-bus without the need for additional electronic
components. |
|
|
The CSDX series reaches high total accuracies of ±0.5 to ±1.0 %FSS (Full
Scale Span) within a temperature compensated range from 0 to 85 °C.
These sensors are packaged in small DIP housings suitable for
space-saving PCB-mounting and are intended to be used with air and
non-corrosive gases. A wide selection of custom specific pressure ranges
and calibrations are available on request. Important features of the
CSDX series are: - Absolute, gage and differential pressure measurement
from ±10 mbar to 5 bar ... |

Melexis collaborates with Toshiba on
Optical Sensor IC solutions for the HD-DVD format |
| |
The next generation DVD formats are known as HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Both of
these standards allow a significant increase in the amount of data
storage capacity over a conventional DVD disk. The HD-DVD format will
support up to 30 gigabytes and Blu-ray will support up to 50 gigabytes
in a dual layer configuration. HD-DVD offers complete backward
compatibility with the existing DVD and CD formats in the market today,
which has caused companies like Microsoft, Intel, Toshiba, NEC, and
several studios to support this format. All the Melexis optic products
defined for HD-DVD are designed to support DVD and CD formats as well.
The largest supporter of the Blu-ray format is Sony. The Blu-ray systems
now offer compatibility with the existing DVD’s, but do not currently
offer complete backward compatibility with the CD market today. Both
formats can easily hold full length movies in high definition format.
Melexis has supported our strategic partners in Japan by offering the
best technical solution in the industry for two products required in
these systems. The first product, the Photo Detector IC (PDIC), detects
the laser beam reflected from the DVD disk and converts the light signal
to an electronic signal. ... |

Safe400 for a Safer Slice |
| |
 |
Compact safety components safeguard dangerous areas without demanding
large amounts of space. But there are elegant safeguarding possibilities
available, as this example of a guillotine from Wohlenberg
Schneidsysteme GmbH proves. Light curtain monitors loading area: Diverse
safety equipment like a two-hand controller and a mechanical safety
catch ensure safe operation of the guillotine. The loading area is
monitored by the Safe400 safety light curtain from CEDES. |
|
|
With a cross-section of just 15 x 20 mm, Safe400 is the smallest safety
light curtain on the market that satisfies safety category 4 in
accordance with EN 954-1. Due to the compact dimensions, Safe400 can be
integrated perfectly into small machines, without having to make
compromises on functionality or design. The emitter and receiver edges
of the light curtains are built into a customized mounting frame, which
is mounted above the guillotine’s machine table. Wohlenberg procure the
mounting frame with the premounted Safe400 emitter and receiver
respectively, as a complete component from CEDES GmbH in Rheinhausen
(Germany). ... |

New Miniature Valves Offer Non-Elastomeric
Versions for Use with Corrosive Fluids |
| |
|
Sensortechnics presents Parker Life Sciences' miniature X-Valve®
series which now offers new models for improved media compatibility.
These new non-elastomeric versions use a metal-to-metal seal and are
ideally suited for applications with aggressive and corrosive fluids
that will damage elastomeric seals. |
|
|
X-Valve's are 2-way or 3-way solenoid valves providing high flow rates
at pressures up to 7 bar (100 psi). Their single piece PBT bodies
feature only 8 mm centreline spacings and are capable of being mounted
on printed circuit boards. The X-Valve series offers barbed pressure
ports which allow for direct tubing connections or manifold assemblies.
Due to their simple design with reduced valve parts these devices ensure
high reliability and response times of less than 20 ms cycling.
X-Valve's offer excellent leak specifications which are met over the
entire lifetime of the valves. ... |
