micro-organisms and bacteria. A major contribution to this is hygienic
machine design which focuses on reducing mechanical trouble spots such
as threads, indents and gaps to eliminate the build up of bacteria and
ensure an effective wash-down procedure with detergents and
high-pressure cleaning. The E3ZM photoelectric sensor series features
tested resistance against detergents from leading manufacturers commonly
used in the food industry. The hermetically-sealed housing also provides
resistance to high-pressure water meeting IP69K – the

Omron introduces photoelectric sensors
supporting preventive machine maintenance strategies |
| |
Hoofddorp, The Netherlands – Omron has expanded its popular E3Z
photoelectric sensor family with a series offering preventive machine
maintenance functions. The new added functionality allows the indication
of dirty lenses, product jams and misaligned sensors during production
or maintenance cycles. With optimized material supply chains and
just-in-time production, machine downtime can result in high additional
cost and is a serious threat to material-handling and packaging
processes. Omron’s E3Z Preventive-Maintenance photoelectric sensor
series offers different levels of functionality for passive and active
preventive maintenance. The passive functions include alarm output
models that provide an advance warning to the user when continuous dirt
build up on the sensor lens or misalignment caused by vibration reach a
critical level. The active functions include a power reduction feature
that allows the detection of dirty lenses or misalignment at pre-defined
times. By reducing the output power e.g. during regular inspection
cycles, sensors showing critical behavior can be detected and ... |

| |
|
Kistler's wheel force measuring systems revolve around high-tech
race car measurement tried and tested in the DTM Series and Formula 1.
The capabilities and reliability of the two different lightweight
systems in use come into their own where ultra high precision
measurement is required under extreme loads. |
|
|
Touring cars are based on the design of production vehicles, but have a
specially tuned racing chassis. The DTM therefore offers an extensive
test bed for the use for RoaDyn measuring wheels. On a circuit in
Portugal racing mechanics fit Kistler RoaDyn S625 measuring wheels for
fine tuning the vehicle. This particularly light measuring wheel with
carbon fiber structural components offers the major advantage of
internal signal transmission that avoids impairing race car
aerodynamics. The experience gained in extreme racing situations is also
exploited in the ongoing development of the RoaDyn family of measuring
wheels ... |

OPTIFLUX for corrosive industrial waste
water |
| |
|
A waste disposal company in Basle, Switzerland uses a KROHNE
OPTIFLUX electromagnetic flowmeter for measuring the waste water
produced by a chemical company. The company produces a monthly report
detailing the amount of waste water to be sent for disposal. The waste
disposal company measures the quantities on-site in a switchgear cabinet
and then bills the chemical company at the end of the year for the waste
it takes away for disposal. |

One of the problems with chemical waste water is that it contains
corrosive substances and water-solvent mixes. The OPTIFLUX is ideal for
corrosive applications because it has a resistant PFA liner. Additional
features include a full range of diagnostic functions which will also
identify changeovers in the media being measured. The OPTIFLUX ‘s
integrated conductivity measurement automatically identifies known
mixes. This electromagnetic flowmeter has a measuring range from 0 to
500 liters per minute, a valuable feature given that the flows in this
application can vary widely. ... |
