Instruments new LIQUIDEW EExd moisture in liquid on-line analyser
will be presented for the first time in the Middle East by Bin Saud
Technical Trading at Adipec (stand H77/66). LIQUIDEW EExd is a purpose
designed flameproof certified solution to on-line continuous moisture
measurement for petrochemical liquid applications. The instrument is
designed to be wholly installed in the hazardous area, so simplifying
site installation and retrofits. Moisture content is determined in part
per million by weight (ppmw) through Henry’s Law calculation. The method
utilizes the measured dew point temperature, the liquid temperature and
values from a pre-programmed extensive list of saturation concentration
data for a variety of petrochemical liquids. For cases where customised
liquid characteristics data are required, they can be entered quickly
and easily by the user. LIQUIDEW EExd is certified as flameproof for use
in IEC Zone 1 and 2/NEC Class 1 Div. 1 and 2 hazardous areas. The Main

solutions (ASICs) and production of mixed-signal ICs are the main focus
of PREMA Semiconductor GmbH. Their product range is growing
continuously, particularly by buck and boost LED drivers. The new PR4404
is a LED driver providing more than 150mA out of one battery cell and up
to 300mA from two batteries for one to three power LEDs. A hold input
allows controlling the LED brightness via a PWM signal or switching the

New cooled mirror hygrometer for
anti-icing systems of gas turbines |

 The
new generation of the Optidew Hygrometer from Michell Instruments
was designed especially for applications in anti-icing systems for
stationary gas turbines. In power generation plants located in
environments with low temperatures and high relative humidity, there is
a risk of ice forming in the air intake systems, leading to many
potential problems. Firstly the accumulation of ice on the filter
elements will block the filter and lead to loss of power through a drop
of pressure and reduced mass flow. In turn this will lead to reduced
thermal efficiency. In extreme cases, chunks of ice may be ingested into
the compressor and cause physical damage to the turbine. Protecting
against icing is vital to prolonging the life and efficiency of the gas
turbine. Ice protection systems vary between de-icing and anti-icing,
the latter usually featuring a precision hygrometer such as the new

4B Rotech Encoder |

 The
4B Rotech Encoder is used primarily for protecting equipment and
personnel from dangerous underspeed / belt slip conditions. Other
applications include accurate speed control, direction of rotation
detection, gate position indication and counting the number of
revolutions of the shaft. An inductive sensing device in the body of the
encoder detects a steel rotor. On slow speed or accurate position
control, a photo diode detects the slots on a steel disk. One pulse is
created for each rotor or slot so the unit can be connected directly to
a PLC/computer or 4B control module. The shaft to be monitored is
drilled and taped to take the M12 Rotech Bolt. No guards are required as
the rotating components are encased inside the aluminium housing of the
encoder. No brackets are required as the encoder couples directly to the
end of the shaft and floats with the shaft. Polyester and stainless
steel versions are also available for offshore and other highly

operator display panel for Cognex In-Sight® vision systems has
been enhanced with an array of new features. It is now easier than ever
to monitor the production process and change vision system parameters
right on the factory floor…without a PC. Both engineers and production
line operators will benefit from the new software enhancements in
VisionView 1.1. Engineers can now create an operator interface from
within the In-Sight Explorer software by simply choosing the vision
system parameters they would like to display, and selecting those that
can be modified on the factory floor. A deployment interface is then
automatically generated by VisionView. Production line operators can now
quickly adjust the parameters of the In-Sight job, such as training new
parts or entering new lot codes, all via the password-protected
VisionView touch screen controls…without ever having to use a PC. This

Rubber thickness measurement using Acuity
laser sensors |

Acuity laser sensors are used throughout the tire and rubber
manufacturing industries. Rubber sheet manufacturers need online
thickness measurements for Quality Control and system control feedback
loops. Rubber presents several challenges for non-contact metrology
equipment with its low surface reflectivity, dirty measuring
environments and elevated material temperatures. System integrators for
the tire and rubber industry demand reliable, non-contact measuring
devices to minimize downtime and scrap material production. Rubber
conveyor belt manufacturers use Acuity laser displacement sensors to
measure the thickness of black rubber sheet in a calendaring process.
After numerous trials and worldwide installations the AccuRange 700-4
sensor model was chosen to replace other equipment which failed to meet
accuracy and speed requirements. The AR700 sensor is extremely durable
and meets the environmental requirements for this industrial
application. During calendaring and rubber processing, the surface of
the rubber sheet may be very shiny and very black, creating challenging
conditions where little light can be reflected back to a sensor’s
detector. Acuity installs an upgraded laser diode in their rubber
thickness measurement sensors, bringing 5 mW of laser power (standard is
1 mW) to get a stronger return signal off the dark surface. The
