Measurement
technology company Micro-Epsilon is now extending its already
comprehensive range of infrared temperature sensors for displacement
measurement. The sensors of the Group’s partner for many years will now
be directly included in the Micro-Epsilon range under the thermoMETER
trade name. This new product group is targeted at industrial users. The
infrared sensors comprise eleven products for stationary use. Amongst
others, this includes products such as thermoMETER CT, which has
external electronics. This sensor operates in temperatures from -40°C up
to +975°C. This also includes the CT laser, which uses an integrated
laser optical system to mark actual spot sizes at every distance. The
CTglass version of this laser sensor is designed for use in glass

The
new WIKA R-1 pressure transmitter has been optimally designed for
the specific requirements of refrigeration and HVAC applications. The
R-1 has proven condensation resistance - the most important requirement
for refrigeration and HVAC applications - with excellent results in a
multitude of tests. As a result of the monolithic design of the body,
with its welded thin-film measuring cell, the need for a separate seal
between the sensor and the housing, in contact with the medium, is
eliminated. One advantage of this is that no elaborate material
compatibility tests are required; another is that there will be no
chance for leaks due to the seals. Therefore, high long-term sealing can
be guaranteed. A robust and compact design, plus resistance to the
most-widely used refrigerants are further requirements of this market’s
customers which are fully satisfied by the R-1. ...

The new COMPACTplus-XSS/R Safety Light Curtains (XSS: eXtended Shape
Scanning) are used with roll printing processes. They guard the access
area when feeding in rectangular objects, such as paper rolls in the
print and paper industry, for example. Similar to Muting – the properly
intended and time-limited suppression of the safety function – the
Safety Light Curtain mounted at a tilt detects the paper roll where the
rolls are fed in on the basis of its closed rectangular shape, and
allows it to pass as an access-allowed object. A person entering the
COMPACTplus-XSS/R protective field is detected as an access-denied
object on the basis of their contour and their movements, and the
dangerous movement is stopped instantly. This solution reduces the
expenses for the user compared with previous Muting solutions, because
no separate Muting sensors and Muting indicators are required. A side
access guarding with additional testable Single Light Beam Safety
Devices is also easy to set up, as the COMPACTplus-XSS/R Receiver also
has an integrated type 2 test unit. Furthermore the COMPACTplus-XSS/R
Safety Light Curtain also has a 2-sensor Muting system, whereby a
switchover between the shape scanning and the 2-sensor Muting is

yield is at 90 per cent and rising. Würth Solar GmbH & Co. KG in
Schwäbisch Hall (Germany) has been producing solar modules using CIS
technology since October 2006. Manufacturing printed circuit boards
(PCBs) on glass substrates is a difficult job. These CIS coating
pioneers were world leaders in developing solar modules with dimensions
