JUMO LOGOSCREEN nt Paperless recorder
with new features |
| |
JUMO
paperless recorders record measurement data with a great deal of
accuracy and archive them in a manner which is protected against
manipulation. With the newest development stage of the paperless
recorder JUMO LOGOSCREEN nt, now also measurement data can be visualised
online in a network with an excellent picture quality. This is new and
should be mentioned because measurement data of not only one paperless
recorder, but of up to four diverse devices can be shown at the same
time. In addition, and this is previously unique in this performance
class, in the web server which is available serially individual and user
specific web pages can be created and shown with the Internet Explorer.
The possibilities which this new device function provides can currently ... |

Robust fieldbus electronics ensure
efficient production |
| |
HBM’s
PME modules feature compact measurement electronics to increase the
efficiency of production machinery by providing highly stable
measurement channels. These can be used for measuring a variety of
mechanical quantities such as force, pressure, torque, rotational speed,
temperature, and analog current and voltage signals at high resolution.
PME modules are intended for use in the fields of measurement, control,
and documentation. Integrated digital signal processing and conditioning
is used for signal analysis while limit values, analog outputs or
digital interfaces can be used to transmit the signals to the control
system further increasing mechanical and plant efficiency. A high level
of integration is ensured through different fieldbus interfaces,
including CANopen, Profibus-DP, and DPV1 protocols for acyclic data
exchange and Interbus and Ethernet ... |

KROHNE ultrasonic measuring device
receives biofuel award |
| |
The
KROHNE UFM 3030 won the prize for "Most advanced flow technology
for measuring biofuels" at the ISA ExpoControl 2008 international trade
fair. Alternative fuels was one of the most discussed topics at this
year's fair in Mexico. Jonathan Fiedler, one of the KROHNE product
specialists, gave a well-attended presentation on the topic of
"Measuring alternative fuels". Mexico is planning to increase the
portion of domestically produced bioethanol when manufacturing
automobile gas, thus promoting its own oil industry in the long term.
The UFM 3030 is a universal 3-beam in-line ultrasonic flowmeter for
liquids. It features three measuring paths which guarantee reliable
measurement, regardless of the flow profile. The advantage of ultrasonic
flowmeters like the UFM 3030 is that they have no moving parts or
fixtures in the sensor, making them extremely low-wearing and virtually
maintenance-free. These characteristics were crucial when it came to the
KROHNE UFM 3030's award as the most innovative measuring solution. ... |

SAWS: A Cutting Edge Technology |
| |
Sensor
Technology is a small hi tech Company involved in the R&D and
production of rotary torque measuring transducers using Surface Acoustic
Wave (SAW) technology. It is also involved in the licensing of this
technology. The Company is privately owned by the Lonsdale twins,
Anthony and Bryan, and Tony Ingham. It has been established for the last
27 years in a picturesque converted water mill near Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Throughout its history the Company's skills have been in carrying out
bespoke R&D for clients in Magnetometer and Navigation Systems and
Torque Sensors. Indeed, it was the amalgamation of working on a
navigation and magnetometer system in 1990 that led Anthony Lonsdale to
experience problems with the SAW devices he was using and realise that
he could turn this disadvantage into an advantage, that SAWs could be
used to measure strain. ... |

Looking towards the South-East - Cognex
Opens Strategic Office in Vienna |
| |
|
Cognex, the world leader in vision systems, vision software, vision
sensors and surface inspection systems, opened a new strategic office in
Vienna on 30 May 2008. With its new sales centre, Cognex is
sending out a clear signal beyond Austria's borders to the markets of
Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. The company has its sights focused on
countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and
Romania. The new office will act as a link to Europe's centres of
technology, giving these countries better access to vision technologies.
The selection of Vienna as a location was thus also based on strategic
considerations. David Hinchliffe, District Sales Manager for Austria and
Eastern Europe, commented on the opening of the new office in Vienna,
"The growing markets in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe mean that the
channels required for knowledge transfer must be kept as short as
possible. Vision technology is today a core feature of all top-class
industrial automation structures and can play an important role in the
continued development of growth markets in Eastern Europe." He went on
to add, "We want to provide crucial support for this development
process". ... |

Predestined for printing operations: the
new SOLID-2/SF Multiple Light Beams Safety Devices |
| |
Leuze:
The sheet delivery of sheet-fed printing machines is the work station
where the printed sheets of paper are automatically laid on a palette.
In this area the operator must be able to reach in to move palettes in
and out, remove print tests or insert pile wedges. Opto-electronic
protective devices have been tried, tested and proven in this area for
guarding against injuries and complying with normative specifications.
With the new SOLID-2/SF Multiple Light Beam Safety Device, printing
machine manufacturers now have a safety solution that unites all SOLID
benefits and meets the requirements of the C-type standard, EN 1010-2.
EN 1010 specifies how the guarding must be set up and operated at the
sheet delivery area, to make the operation more efficient and safer at
the same time. In practice this means that with SOLID-2/SF Multiple
Light Beam Safety Devices, the safety function of individual beams can
be suppressed under certain conditions when the process requires this,
such as when placing in empty palettes or driving in auxiliary
materials, for example. ... |

Innovative sheet sensor saves money |
| |
Baumer
Electric: The new ZDDM 050T sheet sensor from Baumer ensures the
high quality of bound print products in collating machines. For this
task, a 60 x 80 mm image is taken of every sheet at a specified point in
rapid sequence and this image is compared to a previously taught
reference image. The fully integrated image analysis system activates a
simple switching output (accept/reject). Based on this information,
corrective actions may be initiated in the machine. The Accept/Reject
signal is presented on a display together with additional information.
If necessary, individual images or additional information for sheet
recognition can be retrieved via Ethernet. An intelligent teach-in
process performed at the beginning of every print run ensures optimal
recognition of the sheets. In Run mode, up to 10 sheets per second are
analyzed at a speed of up to 3 m/s. The sheets, which may be printed
either matte or glossy, may be between 110 and 500 mm in length and up
to 5 mm thick. The sensor tolerates shifts in position of ± 10 mm in the

CPC3000 High-speed pressure controller
completes the WIKA portfolio |
| |
The
portfolio of pressure controllers in WIKA’s Calibration Line has
been completed by a model which is compact, controls extremely quickly
and is also reasonably priced. With the CPC3000, a reference instrument
is now available to measuring instrument manufacturers and calibration
facilities which noticeably reduces cycle and job times. The heart of
the pneumatic controller is a unique control system, for which a patent
has been applied for. It achieves the set value in under three seconds –
with an accuracy of 0.025 % and a control stability of 0.004 %.
Measuring ranges from 0...350 mbar up to 0...70 bar are available.
Through its colour touchscreen, user-friendly menu system and
individually selectable input options – also via a progammable Step-key
block or Jog-keys –the CPC3000 offers maximum ease of use. Established
serial interfaces, such as IEEE 488, Ethernet and USB, enable ... |
