Manner Sensortelemetrie has now widened its range of torque measuring flanges, developed specifically for test bench technology. The focus is now on expanding network connectivity. Ethernet connection (TCP/IP) is now available alongside existing USB and CAN network links. This means that the torque sensor can be smoothly integrated into existing TCP/IP networks. Ethernet technology offers huge advantages, particularly with larger test benches. The fibre optic cables generally available for Ethernet use permit transmission paths up to several kilometres long, as well as transmission of measurements that is completely free of interference. The rotary speed data collected using the integrated speed measurement system is also transmitted. The classic data recording interface is no longer needed, which cuts costs greatly. The measuring flange, together with a PC, represents a practically "Plug and Play" data acquisition system. The software needed to visualise the readings is supplied.

By using digital sensor telemetry, the system accuracy for hysteresis and linearity has been improved - down to 0.05%. With the new sensor generation, the torque values are already digitised in the rotor with 16 bits. The long range between the rotor and the stator, as well as the robust design, has proven highly successful in practice. Of course, classic analog output signals are still available, too.
