Humidity Sensor – AEC-Q100

Sensirion’s
new SHT21 humidity and
temperature sensor has now been qualified in
accordance with the AEC-Q100 automotive standard. This confirms the
outstanding reliability, stability and robustness of the sensor, which
has been in regular production since April 2010. Successful AEC-Q100
qualification is remarkable in the sense that humidity sensors, unlike
fully encapsulated electronic components, are constantly exposed to
their surroundings and sensitive to ambient conditions. During the
qualification process, the SHT21 was put through the series of tests
specified by AEC-Q100. In the High Temperature Operating Lifetime (HTOL)
test, the sensor was operated at 125°C for 1000 hours to test its aging
characteristics. The 96-hour Unbiased Highly Accelerated Stress Test (UHST)
at 130°C and 85% relative humidity confirmed the sensor’s stress
resistance. Furthermore, the package was tested in the Temperature
Cycling (TC) test with 1000 cycles between -50°C and +150°C, which
measures the compatibility of the packaging material with the chip and
the substrate. The series concluded with the Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) tests, which indicate the
robustness of the sensor with regard to these two parameters. The SHT21

BRAIME Components LTD: The RLI “Shaker” rotary paddle switch
is used to detect high / low levels of bulk granular solids in
bins, tanks and silos. It can also be used to detect plug
conditions in spouts, where long life and failsafe detection is
required. Utilizing a unique stepper motor drive, the RLI
“Shaker” rotates clockwise, then counter-clockwise and then
shakes to shed any excess material build up. If the paddle
rotation is impeded at any time by the bulk material then the
electronic circuit provides a signal for level indication or
control. The RLI “Shaker” uses fewer mechanical parts compared
with standard
rotary level indicators. No gearbox or clutch is

pressure transducer. This rugged all-welded stainless steel sensor
combines a standard NPT male process connection with a flush diaphragm.
In addition, the FT29XX pressure transmitter is designed with internal
signal conditioning. Customers can select 4-20mA current outputs,
numerous voltage outputs, as well as digital outputs including RS232,
RS485, and CANbus. The unique design of the isolation diaphragm reduces
stress levels normally caused by torquing a tapered thread into the
mating fitting. The FT29XX introduces zero dead volume to the fixturing
and resists the accumulation of residue that can clog traditional
pressure ports. The sensing element is machined from a single piece of

Temperature
measurement – also with regard to energy efficiency – is becoming
increasingly important in building services engineering. JUMO has
extended its range of temperature probes for this industry by an outdoor
RTD temperature probe. The white plastic housing of the temperature
probe is UV resistant and can be fitted to the wall using the easily
accessible fastening holes. Air chambers in the housing guarantee
long-term stability and precision of the temperature monitoring. The
connection cable can be inserted via a rubber stopper or plastic screw
connection. Use of the screw connection increases the protection class
from IP65 to IP67. The outdoor RTD temperature probe is designed for an
operating range of –50...+90°C. For temperature monitoring, the sensor

Baumer’s
pressure transmitter PFSX with SIL2 certification (Safety Integrity
Level 2) has been developed according to the IEC 61508 standard. It is
suitable for water treatment and energy generation applications as well
as for applications in the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and
food & beverage industries. The measuring instrument comes with a 4…20
mA analogue output and two galvanically insulated relay outputs with
integrated test functions for alarm purposes. The PFSX can measure
pressure ranges from 0…1 up to 0…400 bar with an accuracy of ±0.5 % of
the full scale. The
pressure transmitter has a four-digit red LED display (8 mm high)
with two set points. It is fully programmable on site without any
additional tools. All parameters are password-protected. The SIL2
approval is based on the Safe Failure Fraction (SFF) of 98 % and the
Hardware Fault Tolerance (HFT) which is 0. The sensor architecture
guarantees SIL2 safety without the need to use two pressure switches to
