| Sensortechnics’ Custom
Digital Pressure Sensors Feature 24 Bit Resolution and 0.1 %
Accuracy |
| |
Sensortechnics:
For particularly demanding pressure sensing
applications, e.g. in medical and instrumentation
devices, Sensortechnics now offers custom
piezoresistive pressure sensors with very high
resolution and accuracy from 2.5 mbar full scale. A
high-quality, low noise amplifier and subsequent 24 bit
A/D converter provide for high resolution digital
signals comparable to analog signals and high
signal-to-noise-ratios. The sensors utilise a
microcontroller which allows correction algorithms for
temperature compensation and linearisation to be
programmed flexibly. Sensortechnics
microcontroller-based pressure sensors achieve very high
accuracies with a typical total error band of 0.1 % and
fast response times of up to 250 µs. Sensortechnics’
pressure sensors with integrated microcontrollers offer
various possibilities for custom specific adaptions.
These can include the calibration, signal conditioning
and signal transmission of the sensor. Within the
overall pressure range certain subranges with different
resolution and accuracy can be calibrated. This
functionality is especially valuable for medical
ventilators or patient monitors which determine
respiratory flow by means of differential pressure

| High-precision laminar-flow
monitoring with SCHMIDT® flow sensors |
| |
The
new
flow sensors SS 20.415 and SS 20.515 from SCHMIDT
Technology leave the choice of the suitable measuring
instrument for laminar flow monitoring to the user. Both
offer highest precision down to the 1% range. Tailored
optimally to the requirements of laminar-flow
monitoring, the new flow sensors SS 20.415 and SS 20.515
from SCHMIDT Technology are working according to the
thermal anemometer principle. They measure flows from
0.05 m/s (standard velocity wN of air, based on standard
conditions 20°C and 1013.25 hPa). In addition to the
very low beginning of the measuring range, extremely
high measuring accuracies are required by the narrow
acceptance tolerances for the measurement of the
velocities of directed low-turbulence displacement
flows. Due to the optional high-precision calibration,
the measuring accuracies are within ±1% of the measured
value. Compared to the standard calibration, the
high-precision calibration features a further
improvement in the accuracy by the increased number of
adjustment points as well as the documentation of the
nominal and actual values as ISO calibration
certificate. This calibration can be renewed in cycles,
for example annually, upon request of the user. Also the
design of the SCHMIDT® flow sensors is tailored to the
special requirements of laminar-flow monitoring.. ... |

Tension/Compression Load Cells from LCM Systems Means Lower
Prices and ... |
| |
With
another record year for load cell solutions provider,
LCM Systems, a new initiative has been
introduced that means lower prices and faster delivery
for all customers. The company is pleased to announce
that its best selling
DCE load cell for
measurement of tensile and compressive forces is now
available ex-stock from its headquarters on the Isle of
Wight. This small and versatile product is ideal for
design engineers and systems integrators who are working
on applications for tensile strength, tension
measurement and general force applications. The standard
product is offered in ranges from 100N to 50kN, although
specials can be designed and manufactured not only with
customised ranges, but different thread sizes, integral
connectors and high temperature versions are all popular
requests from design engineers. This compact load cell
is constructed in stainless steel and environmentally
sealed to IP65. To add to its versatility, different
mounting options are available, designed to make the
load cell suitable where space is limited and a version
with rationalised output can also be supplied. ... |

| Dytran Instruments Expands
Family of Miniature Accelerometers for HALT/HASS Testing, ... |
| |
Dytran
Instruments, Inc. a leading manufacturer of
piezoelectric and DC MEMS accelerometers,
force sensors and
pressure transducers and associated electronics, has
introduced the 3030BG series, a family of miniature
IEPE accelerometers available in two different
models each with a sensitivity of 10 mV/g and 500 g
shock limit. Units feature a rugged stainless steel
construction and abbreviated low-end frequency response
of 2 Hz (3030B4G) or 5 Hz (3030B5G), ensuring
sensitivity stability during rapid thermal transient
conditions. The 3030BG series is hermetically sealed for
reliable operation in high humidity and dirty
environments and incorporate a 10-32 axial connector and
adhesive mounting capabilities. The Dytran 3030BG series
is very similar in design to the 3030B series of
miniature IEPE accelerometers, differing only in terms
of their type of mounting configuration. ... |

| Vert-X 16 – a great little
encoder |
| |
Contelec:
For medical and industrial applications, as well as in
the automotive industry and energy sector, angle
measurement frequently involves exacting requirements in
terms of safety, confined installation space, maximum
measurement accuracy and high price sensitivity. To meet
demanding applications of this kind, Contelec has
launched the high-precision Vert-X 16
industrial rotary encoder. At just 16 mm diameter,
the rotary encoder in an affordable plastic housing
features fastening tabs reinforced by metal sleeves to
ensure reliable and sturdy attachment. With axial output
leads, the rotary encoder is convincing with 12 to 14
bit resolution, ±0.3% linearity of the measuring range,
programmable angles and an IP65 protection rate. Another
attractive feature is the long service life, specified
at over 50 million movements. The compact Vert-X 16
angle sensor is also extremely flexible. Redundant
versions are available as well as custom shaft diameters
and lengths. ... |

| Easily integrated pressure
transmitters for OEMs with digital and ratiometric interfaces |
| |
Keller
AG: Thanks to the Chip-in-Oil (CiO) technology
developed at Keller, the trend toward miniaturization is
now becoming a reality. In our Series 4 LC...9 LC
pressure transmitters, the special ASIC for signal
processing is fitted directly next to the
pressure sensor, in the same housing, under oil, and
with the exclusion of air. This yields a host of
advantages in terms of application: all the key pressure
measurement components are now protected against the
risks from humidity and condensation. The interior
wiring is implemented with short, lightweight bonding
wires, while sintered-in pressure-resistant glass
leadthroughs feed the transmitter signals out. Together
with the high-grade steel housing, they form a Faraday
cage around the measuring system, acting as feedthrough
capacitors. This makes the CiO technology absolutely RFI
resistant up to field strengths of 250 V/m and for
frequencies of up to 4 GHz. Series 4 LC...9 LC pressure
transmitters offer two output signals: a ratiometric
analog voltage output and a digital inter-integrated
circuit interface (I2C). The ratiometric signal
eliminates the need for an expensive voltage reference
in the support electronics to the A/D converter, with no
additional effort and expense for compensation and
calibration. For a voltage supply of 5,0 V, the output
signal is specified as 0,5 ... 4,5 V. The transmitters
provide constant protection against overvoltage and ... |
